Build the Ultimate Game-Day Platter
How to lay out biltong, droewors, jerky and snack sticks into a platter that disappears before half-time. Pairings, quantities and the hamper that does it for you.
A great game-day platter is about contrast: lean and fatty, mild and hot, chewy and crisp. Get the spread right and it disappears before the first siren.
Start with a base of traditional biltong and smokey BBQ jerky, then add a coil of droewors snapped into bite-size lengths. Throw in a handful of snack sticks for the kids and a small bowl of something pickled to cut through the richness.
Rough quantities: about 80 to 100 grams of dried meats per person if it is the main event, half that if there are other snacks. Always make more than you think. There are never leftovers.
If you would rather not think about it, the Ultimate Hamper is basically this platter in a box.
